Following the result of the post-mortem examinations carried out on the late gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu, The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja Police Command has stated that the case will now be transferred to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
It would be recalled that the singer had died on April 8 in an Abuja based hospital, and the death has since stirred up many reactions and interests of many Nigerians.
Upon her death, friends and family of the deceased have laid allegations on her husband Peter Nwachukwu, claiming that he was the one who beat her to her death, not that she died of throat cancer as earlier announced.
Following the allegations, Mr. Nwachukwu was arrested on the 10th April on the grounds of suspected culpable homicide. After which the case was handed over to the State Criminal Investigation the Lugbe Police Division.
In recent developments as a result of the postmortem carried out, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, on Monday, said the case was no longer with the police.
She said, “The case is no longer with us. It is now with the DPP in the office of the Attorney General.”
The police also said that since the autopsy report has been released, the police will seek legal advice on the case.
Recall the Nigerian police had earlier announced the result of the autopsy carried out on the late singer will not be made public so as to ensure a smooth investigation.
